Brandon Flowers - "Crossfire"

Brandon Flowers already tried to fill The Boss' shoes on Sam's Town so, judging from the first single, The Killers frontman is trying to slip on a pair of Bono's futuristic sunglasses for his forthcoming solo record. Pairing an easy acoustic backing with rippling chords, emphatic violins, and a steady marching percussion (think "City of Blinding Lights"), Brandon sings in a restrained, but strong bellow about "a crossfire between Heaven and Hell". Never really clicked with The Killers, nor saw the big deal about Brandon Flowers himself, but this sounds surprisingly solid. Flamingo drops in September.
