Anything Else But The Truth...
Honest. Intimate. Emotional. Best three words I can think to describe The Honorary Title's Anything Else But The Truth...
Mostly limited to vocalist Jarrod Gorbel and his guitar, the songs are paced slowly by his acoustic strums. Gorbel's voice, easily recognizable, glides fluidly through the tracks like a good beer: full of body, character, and smoothness. Lyrically, the tracks serve as a confessional, showing Gorbel confessing his lost loves and insecurities, most notably on b-side "Dilute", "Everything I Once Had", and "Snow Day". When the full band is broken out, it's always tasteful, like the 50's sway of "Points Underneath" and the piano jaunt of "Frame By Frame".
Gorbel remains the shining star of the record as his voice is just as powerful and strong whether through a haunting whisper or a tortured yelp. Anyone who thinks they've had their heartbroken check with Gorbel first. And pick up his record while you're at it.
Oh, and did I mention Gorbel recorded a killer cover of Alicia Key's smash single "No One"? Yeah check that too.
