Stream: Ryan Adams - Ashes & Fire

Ryan Adams is nothing if not prolific. When you're recording as often as he does, however, you're going to get some clunkers. Thankfully, Adams has stepped back and taken his time with his 13th studio LP Ashes & Fire, opting for a more simplistic and stripped down approach than heard in the heavier rock leanings of 2008's Cardinology. Having Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, frequent collaborator/Grammy-winning artist Norah Jones, and wife Mandy Moore pitching in doesn't hurt either.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up near Heartbreak and Gold territory when everything's said and done. But don't take my word for it. Head over to NPR and give the entire album a couple listens before your inevitable decision to buy it on Oct. 11th.
