While trying to console both my Redskins disappointing loss and my Bon Temps Mighty Ducks probably fantasy football loss, I'll hit you up with this weekend in the EPL.
-Holding onto a season already slipping away, Liverpool reminded everyone they're still around with a 4-0 walloping of Burnley. Israeli national Yossi Benayoun's hat trick did the number for the Reds.
-West Ham and Everton's disappointing starts both continued as the Hammers lost 1-0 to struggling Wigan and the Toffees fell late at Fulham 2-1 on the back of a great strike by Damien Duff.
-Aston Villa avoided a bad loss thanks to a Gabriel Agbonlahor header, sneaking past Birmingham 1-0.
-In one of the two premiere matches of the weekend, white-hot White Hart residents Tottenham looked poised to shock Manchester United after notching an lead within the match's first minute (see below for more gushing). However, a stellar free kick from Ryan Giggs, Anderson's first Premier League goal, and an obligatory Rooney score turned into another dominating victory for the Red Devils, prevailing 3-1.
-In the most interesting match up of the weekend, we saw streaking Manchester City and Emmanuel Adebayor go up against the Togo internationals former club in Arsenal. For the second week an OG gave the Gunner's opponents a lead, and despite a Robin Van Persie strike, Man City took the lead, and eventually won 4-2. Controversy struck when Adebayor scored, his fourth in four matches, and ran right to the Arsenal faithful inciting some rioting and a yellow card. Curious to see the fall out.
Goal of the Week:
I feel like I keep giving these out in losing efforts, but Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe's bicycle kick in the 1st minute (yeah you read that right) against Manchester United was jaw dropping. Despite the 3-1 loss, Defoe has been something special for Tottenham.
