We all know Ryan Adams moonlights as a the geekiest of geeky metal fans. He accrued more cred in that respect when he closed out a recent set in Paris with a cover of Danzig classic "Mother". Many uninformed "critics" dismiss metal songs as ear-splitting garbage, but when deconstructed as Mr. Adams does in a beautifully pleading way here, it's hard to argue that they aren't truly well written.
